SAFE
BURNING TIPS
1. Check the weather;
don’t burn on dry,
windy days.
2. Stay with the fire until it is completely out.
Douse hot embers with water. Embers can
stay
hot for
days and re-ignite surrounding
unburned
fuel.
3. Always
have sufficient help, water, tools, and
equipment readily available
at the burn site to
control the fire from escaping.
4. Spring and fall are the seasons of highest fire

in Maryland. Use extra caution during
these
seasons.
