Open air burning ban is in effect
for Frederick County, MD.
( June 1 thru August 31 )
Per Frederick County Health Department:
Burning of leaves in Frederick County IS LEGAL without a permit. If anyone calls in please take the information and location and advise them the burning of
leaves is permissible.
It
is contrary to the information that has been provided in the past, and,
in fact, the permits themselves advise it is illegal, however, after a citizen's legal challenge and winning in court, the
Health Department has changed the stance and advises leaf burning is allowed without a permit.
Regulations such as 200 feet from woodland and 200 feet from structures still apply.
